SkinIntel is a mobile skincare tracking app that uses AI facial scanning and community-based data to help users evaluate product effectiveness. The app bridges personal tracking with collective insights, giving users a clear picture of their skin over time.
Problem
Many users struggle to know if skincare products actually work for their skin type. Current apps focus on selling or opinions, not measurable results.
Solution
SkinIntel combines daily AI-powered skin scans, ingredient analysis, and aggregated user data to deliver objective, trackable insights. By showing visible changes and linking them to product use, the app empowers users to make smarter, more confident skincare decisions.

How it works
The homepage separates morning and night scans, marking each as completed or prompting with a “Scan Now” button. After each scan, users receive a scanning report. At the end of the week, a summary visualizes progress across facial zones.
Why it matters
Immediate awareness of skin condition builds daily mindfulness, while weekly reports provide data-backed insights on which products or ingredients truly work.
Feature 3 · Data-Backed Product Results
How it works
Users browse or search products in-app. SkinIntel’s AI links product logs with aggregated facial scans to surface measurable outcomes — e.g., “86% of users reported smoother texture after using this toner.”

Reflection
SkinIntel taught me how to turn user pain points—confusion, skepticism, and lack of results—into features that balance emotional reassurance with measurable proof. By combining AI scans, progress tracking, and community insights, I learned the value of designing for both personal motivation and collective trust.
Future Directions
To improve scanning accuracy and convenience, SkinIntel could integrate with a smart mirror equipped with built-in lighting and a camera. Instead of relying on handheld phone photos, users would simply look into the mirror for automatic, consistently lit scans that sync directly with the app. This reduces friction, improves image quality, and makes daily tracking feel like a natural part of the morning routine.
